Vice President and co-founder
Brant M. Edwards is Vice President and Co-Founder of BruckEdwards,
Inc. Mr. Edwards is a leading authority in the analysis, design, integration,
implementation and transition of electronic directory, messaging and
collaboration systems, and advanced Internet security technologies.
Prior to founding BruckEdwards, Inc., Mr. Edwards served at PEC Solutions,
Inc. for over 9 years. Most recently, Mr. Edwards managed the e-Authentication
Department where he was responsible for the oversight of more than fifteen
system engineers and analysts supporting secure e-Government projects
for customers including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI), and the USDA’s National Finance Center
(NFC) and Social Security Administration (SSA). Mr. Edwards holds a
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems
from James Madison University.
Career Highlights:
DOJ Public Key Infrastructure System Designer
Mr. Edwards served as the e-Authentication Solutions,
Department Manger for PEC, supporting the system design and development
of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Sensitive But Unclassified
(SBU) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). In this role Mr. Edwards assisted
in the requirements analysis, design, and development of the PKI to
support secure messaging, secure network authentication, and secure
remote access services for the Department’s SBU user base. As
a Systems Designer, Mr. Edwards contributed to the engineering, writing
and presentation of project deliverables and briefings to the DOJ PKI
stakeholders, including the PKI Enterprise Architecture, Cost Review,
System Design Document, and System Installation Plan.
NMCI Directory, Messaging and Collaboration Transition Manager
As the Department Manger and Technical Authority for
PEC support the Navy Marine Corp. Intranet (NMCI) Messaging Transition
project, Mr. Edwards was responsible for the development and implementation
of processes and procedures to transition the U.S. Navy and Marine Corp’s
from various, disparate, legacy messaging and collaboration platforms
to the centralized NMCI Microsoft Exchange 2000 solution. During this
two and half year effort, Mr. Edwards managed the daily activities for
a team of over thirty technical and analytical staff working to meet
critical project deadlines and a smooth user migration experience. Mr.
Edwards supported and conducted site assessment surveys; system design
documentation for each site visited; and the implementation of the NMCI
solution at select Navy and Marine installations as well as developed
and delivered client briefs to Navy and Marine executives and staff.
Joint Automated Booking System
Mr. Edwards served as the Department of Justice (DOJ)
Joint Automated Booking System (JABS) senior systems engineer where
he was responsible for the system engineering and operation of the JABS
core system and the integration of the DEA Automated Booking Station.
Mr. Edwards assisted in the in the system analysis, design, and development
of the JABS infrastructure used to automate the criminal booking process.
The system provides rapid identification of wanted individuals via the
FBI's Integrated Automated Fingerprint System (IAFIS) and allows for
real-time information sharing among law enforcement agencies. This capability
will help federal authorities authenticate prisoner identities and provide
interagency investigative information.
Department of Justice Directory and Email Gateway Initiative
As the Project Manger and Technical Lead for the Department
of Justice’s, Electronic Messaging, and Directory Services Gateway
initiative, Mr. Edwards was responsible for managing, designing and
developing the overall system design, integration and implementation
of a proof-of-concept system. The proof-of-concept system addressed
the need of the Department to transition from an unreliable X.400 and
LDAP messaging and directory solution connecting the various disparate
DOJ Component email systems to a SMTP and LDAP based solution modeled
after leading Internet Service Providers. The proof-of-concept solution
incorporated parallel operation of the legacy and proposed system and
addressed future growth for a DOJ PKI solution.
Fairfax County Circuit Court, Court Automated Recording System
As the Senior Systems Engineer, Mr. Edwards was responsible
for the continuing analysis, design, and development of the Fairfax
County Circuit Court, Court Automated Recording System supporting infrastructure.
CARS is a land records and public services document capture system that
automates the filing of deeds, trusts, certificates of satisfaction,
financial statements, marriage licenses, wills, notaries, judgments,
and other documents. The automated system has the capability to process
thousands of documents a day. CARS provides a web-based retrieval component
which enables stake-holders to securely access a constantly growing
database of official court records. Mr. Edwards performed a system performance
analysis to evaluate and identify bottlenecks in the system. The resulting
report served as the basis for the County’s capacity planning
and hardware and software upgrade roadmap.
Drug Enforcement Administration Project Firebird
Mr. Edwards was the chief architect for the DEA’s
Firebird global email system. From program pilot in August 1995 until
the deployment of the Phase II Technical Refresh in 1999, Mr. Edwards
led and managed the analysis, design, engineering, integration, and
implementation of the DEA’s office automation systems in support
of the Firebird program. In this role, Mr. Edwards provided DEA technical
expertise with respect to network, backoffice, and messaging and collaboration
systems. He was responsible for system design documentation, system
administrator training support and providing Tier III operational support
to system administrator in the field.
